She left her laptop on sleep mode, came back later but it wouldn’t turn on. I tried a reboot and now the screen stays off. I don’t know what’s happening. The machine has an Intel Core i5-10400 at 2.9 GHz, a 6-core processor, a Noctua NH-L9i cooler, an Asus PRIME B560M-A motherboard, Corsair Vengeance LPX, 16 GB RAM, a 500 GB SSD, and a SeaSonic FOCUS Plus 550 Gold.
I placed it in a SATA cable that wasn’t attached to any storage device (an old 5400 rpm hard drive that failed, which I took out but didn’t fully disconnect because everything was very secure), and fixing it resolved the issue. The exact reason remains unclear.
Store SATA cables safely inside the case is essential. You might have accidentally touched another connector. It’s best to verify all cables and connectors thoroughly. A simple bump could temporarily fix it, but repeated impacts may cause failure later.
