Your Chromebook is not responding properly. The display shows a dark blue image with no input possible, and the power light is off. You have two years of data saved, which is disappointing. It froze on the Steam site, and you were unable to move the mouse or reset it. After a couple of minutes it switched to the dark screen, and it has remained that way for about an hour now. I’m really worried and need help.

You mentioned the thread from a couple of weeks ago was your reminder to back up your data. Have you performed a hard reset?

Looking back, this definition was a bit off. I should have been more careful. The interesting part was that I was saving for an external HDD to back everything up.

You're referring to the process of restoring a device after a reset. It sounds like you're asking about the steps involved in re-establishing your data after a hard reset.

I realize now that these were actually present. I attempted to reset it, but it wouldn't let me.

I believe the best option would be to bring it to a repair shop to check if any data can be salvaged (I’m not sure how those procedures work on Chromebooks). Likely, the device is beyond repair.
