The Samsung Magician reports a network issue?
Regardless of whether I'm using WiFi or Ethernet, my connection is strong and I'm not relying on a VPN. I'm currently running the newest version, 9.0.0, which appears to be the reason for the recent changes.
Operating System:
Windows 11; 25H2; 26200.7462
Hardware:
Case: Fractal Design Era 2 Charcoal
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B760-I Gaming WiFi Intel B760 mITX; LGA 1700
Storage:
- Samsung 980 PRO 2TB M.2 (Windows 11)
- Samsung 980 PRO 250GB (Ubuntu 24.04.3)
RAM: Team Elite 32GB DDR5 4800 (x1)
CPU: Intel Core i7-13700
Cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid 120L Core 120mm Close-Loop AIO Liquid Cooler
GPU: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0
Power Supply: Lian LI SP750 Performance SFX Form Factor
Running the newest release, 9.0.0. I believe the issue began after the update. Uninstall the app, restart the system, and reinstall it manually on Windows 11 via an elevated command. Just a note, you're dealing with a small 120mm AIO and a modest processor.
Only Samsung Magician?
That tool is focused on managing SSDs and it seems unclear how it would relate to networking challenges directly.
Maybe it comes into play when working with an SSD shared across another network computer or a shared network drive.
Could there be any signs of a network issue?
Are there any network-specific error codes, warnings, or messages appearing in the Reliability History/Monitor or Event Viewer?
What type of connectivity are you using—wired or wireless?
The SSD-hosting computer should have either wired or wireless enabled, but not both simultaneously.
Further details would be helpful.
Update it then.
After v8.0 in 2023, Samsung Magician switched to a Google Electron app using Chromium, which is heavy and resource-heavy. It also frequently fails to launch or connects to the network, possibly due to sandbox issues with the bundled Chromium. Consider using the latest version before this issue, such as the one prior to v7.2.0 from 2022, as it should work better with your SSDs released in 2020.
I thought it was only my main PC, but it works on both of them. While working on another PC elsewhere, it displayed something like Genuine Samsung or Genuine Product. I can't recall the exact details. Recently, I was inserting and removing drives to check and update the firmware. It's unclear if this happened before or after that. All drives were purchased from NewEgg. Before using a wired connection, now it's wireless.
And you confirmed disabling/disconnecting the wired network adapters - right?
Launch Disk Management on both machines. Are the shown drives and configurations accurate?
Can you map and then connect all network drives from both computers?
The goal is to verify there are no additional issues beyond what Samsung Magician is showing.
This could point to a bug or corruption in Samsung Magician.
