The RYZEN 5950X cannot exceed 3.7Ghz
Hey there, friends. I just received a 5950x and the results aren’t quite what I hoped for. Based on the CTR, I think I got a solid sample—definitely impressive. Sometimes certain cores are spiking up to around 5.2Ghz, especially Core 1 (sorry if I came across that way). Running Cinebench R23 gives me about 25,000 points, and all cores cap around 3.7Ghz. During startup, temperatures hit 84°C and the cores still boost high. But under full load, they stay at 3.7Ghz and max out at 67°C—way too low compared to what I expect. It feels a bit like Windows freezing when it starts up, ruining my CPU performance. I’ve updated the AMD drivers and reinstalled Ryzen Master. Tomorrow I plan to re-upload the CPU results after testing 84°C on an Artic Liquid Freezer ii 420. Any suggestions? Maybe tweaking BIOS settings or checking PBO? My motherboard is an X570 Aurora Elite—maybe it’s not the issue. If you have any tips, I’d really appreciate it. Attached are my Cinebench results for reference.
My 2600X isn't officially rated for 3.95 all-core performance, but using Ryzen Master you can create a profile for faster speeds with PBO enabled. It should usually reach those numbers unless it throttles due to heat. With my setup (86°C on stock cooler, decent thermal paste in low airflow), this tends to work well.
