From a purely practical perspective, and ignoring other considerations, they likely wouldn't have managed it without the AIB BIOS team having that much extra time before the AM5 release (no special socket Threadripper available, so less effort compared to earlier projects).
They might have managed to extract an Intel chip such as the 7th, 8th, and 9th generation physically identical to the socket yet blocked access.
5600 confirmed functions on X370-F, indicating all models with the latest BIOS support the full 5000 CPUs. I’ll just have to wait until the price drops around 150-160 euros. Alternatively, if Gigabyte adds BCLK external Gen chips to their Aorus boards before then, a 5.4GHz OC-ed 12400F (150-160 euros) paired with a GIGABYTE B660M Gaming X DDR4 for about 130 euros could work. I need to set up a new account here just to point out that your prediction is incorrect. The Ryzen 5000 works with almost every B350 and X370 motherboard, including the B350M-Mortar. The 5800X3D is currently one of the top CPUs, outperforming both Raptor Lake and Zen 4. Your assessment seems based on limited or biased thinking.
