You're weighing options carefully for your gaming PC build. The conflicting frequencies you've seen likely come from different models or configurations. Generally, the Ryzen 5 1600 AF max frequency is around 2666 MHz, but some sources mention up to 3200 or even 3400 MHz depending on the specific variant. For a G.Skill Ripjaws V (2x8 GB) at 3600 MHz, it would be a high-end setup, but if you're planning a future upgrade in a year or two, it might not be necessary right now. Consider your current needs and whether the extra speed will be used soon. If you're saving money now, sticking with lower frequencies could be smarter unless you anticipate a major performance boost later.

Obtain 3600MHz for the upgrade; if needed, it's possible to set it to a lower frequency when 3600MHz becomes inconsistent.
