CPU model: R5 3600. Motherboard: Gigabyte X570. RAM type: Patriot Viper Steel, 2x8GB, 4400MHz (PVS416G440C9K). I purchased a 4400MHz B-die RAM and was expecting around 3600MHz at the XMP level, but not higher. I experimented with various voltages and timings using the Ryzen memory calculator ("safe" and "fast") and connected the infinity fabric. Adjusting it to any range between 1067MHz and 1600MHz didn’t push it past 3200MHz. Did I miss something? Is the RAM defective, or am I overestimating my expectations?

Voltage levels for memory and SOC are often similar, as they both relate to power supply during operation.

Begin with B-die and XMP configuration locking voltage at 1.5V for a fully secure daily operation; allow minor increases if needed. Adjust SOC to 1.1V, configure VDDP and VDDG to 1.0V. Experiment with tighter clock cycles at 16-16-16-36, then transition to secondary timings from the Ryzen calculator—gradually reducing frequency should enable a stable boot at 3600MHz.

I didn’t push the memory to 1.5, just 1.48. For SOC and VDDP/G voltages I used 1.1v each. I also tested 16-16-17-36 at 3400, but it wouldn’t boot. Would you consider going even more extreme?

The adjustments in the image I shared help me access Windows smoothly and consistently. At 3400Mhz with 1.5v, 1.1v SOC, and VDDP/G settings (though 3800Mhz is shown), saving and exiting via "save and exit" causes a boot loop lasting about three-quarters of the time before entering Windows at the standard specifications for RAM models like 2133 cas 15. Updated December 10, 2019 by Ryan_Vickers – removed any unsuitable background from the screenshot.

Apologies for the delayed response, there seems to be an issue with your memory slots. You might want to try A1 and B1 or A2+B2. It looks like something is not right—have you recently installed the latest BIOS? Also, could you share a screenshot of your memory using Thaiphoon Burner?

It’s hard to predict exactly when DRAM Calculator will become a meme, but it could take anywhere from a few months to a year or more depending on trends and usage.

I changed the memory to F10 (latest) during troubleshooting but didn’t see any improvement. The RAM is currently in A1 and B1. When I first assembled the PC, I placed it in A2 and B2 and it wouldn’t boot. It was Corsair Vengeance Pro, not sure if adding this RAM would affect it. The CPU has been unstable twice since installation—no bent or missing pins, so it’s unlikely that’s the issue.

Check the latest guides again, as new bios could affect things too. I understand this might seem strange, but many users on Overclock.net shared similar experiences. Your manual recommends starting with A2 and B2, so give it a try.
