might be a motherhood compatibility thing
reset bios while power is off and the 5090 is installed
bios up to date?
which windows version is installed?
which psu?
did you try ddu uninstaller yet?

Did you apply DDU to prepare between driver and GPU updates on your i7 980X? This old system requires a BIOS set to UEFI mode, and it’s important to check if the current BIOS version supports it. Windows 10 seems to be up to date, but confirm accordingly.
