The RTX 3080 also suffered damage despite being replaced.
Recently assembled a brand new PC featuring an RTX 3080. It functioned properly initially, but after a month it began shutting down immediately upon exiting sleep mode. After two occurrences no POST was achieved, fans operated at normal speeds, the LED displayed correctly, yet all three fans spun simultaneously before reverting to single speed. The system remained responsive with IGUI, but the GPU failed completely. I proceeded with an RMA, updated the BIOS, reset the CMOS, began using a UPS, and refreshed drivers. The replacement GPU worked for half a month before the issue resurfaced. PC specifications include a Ryzen 7700 CPU, Gigabyte B650M UDAC (F33 BIOS), XPG GammaX M.2 1TB SSD, Corsair 32GB (16x2) PSU, Coolermaster 800G power supply, OS version Windows 11 Pro. Additional notes: Technician suspected a PSU problem; multimeter tests showed no voltage irregularities. An image indicates a burn mark.
Welcome to the forums! That's *very* concerning. What is the specific model of 3080 that you are using? Brand and version please As for the burn, it's a bit difficult to make out. It could just be some schmoo, or it could definitely be a burn. Did you ever smell burning? Also, could we get a wider context for the burn? What's on the other side of the PCB? how close to the power inputs is it? Also, how long after the RMA did it last before burning again? Regardless, yes, if this is actually a burnt card after replacement, it's almost certainly the PSU at fault
Hi! Your Zotac 10GB Trinity seems to be working well—no burning smell and the issue only appeared near the display ports on the left top side. It took about 15 days before it repeated after the RMA was processed. There’s no clear sign pointing to a motherboard fault or a failing PSU at this time.
