THE ROG STRIX B350F IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH ITS SYSTEMS
began experiencing issues with my computer last night, not just the first one I installed a case for. system: lian li o11 dynamic OS, windows 11 64bit, motherboard: rog strix b350f, bios version 5606. cpu: ryzen 3 2200g overclocked to 4.0ghz, gpu: gigabyte rx560 oc 4gb (rev1), power supply: evga 750w, ram: patriot viper 16gb (8gb+8gb) at 3200hm, now running 16gb (8gb+8gb) samsung 2400mhz. i had some cooler: coolermaster masterluquid lite 240 cooling fans, a few generic mismatched ones, a custom hub with some rgb lighting, and the rest were standard led fans. the mouse and keyboard were slow on the internet, so i restarted. after restarting, it wouldn’t boot at all—it stuck in a black screen. i tried a hard shutdown, turned off the power switch, and pressed the power button to drain the psu’s charge. then things got odd: the 12v 4-pin rgb strips on the motherboard stopped working, and the rgb lights on the ram began to malfunction, almost like a short or ground issue. after removing the patriot viper ram and installing two samsung ram sticks, i managed to get the system up again. but the rgb fans eventually came back, then went dark. once the first screen appeared, the rgb lights faded completely. after about an hour of troubleshooting, the rgb fans started working again. i shut down the pc and reinserted the patriot ram. still no response—no lights, no signals. now i’m trying to figure out what’s wrong. it seems like the ram layout is confusing; i used two sticks in slots A2 and B2, not A1/B1. when i tried one stick, it worked perfectly, but with the other it didn’t. my lighting software says only one rgb header exists, but i can’t see rgb2. it appears there’s no separate rgb2 slot, which is puzzling. i’m unsure if i have a bad slot or a corrupt bios. i also suspect the motherboard itself might be the problem. after checking, i ran open rgb and it cleared some unnecessary stuff. what should I do next?
