I didn’t catch that clip, yet it’s reassuring to know others share your thoughts on the Ryzen 7000 mobile naming.
It's more than just a mistake—it's misleading because it's designed to keep selling outdated Zen architecture components. This approach works well in the lower price range, but it definitely encourages people to purchase older Zen 2 or even Zen 1 cores in 2023 and later. They tend to assume a higher year number means a newer product, so they'll opt for that instead. It also seems like a strategy to push e-waste sales similar to what Nvidia does with certain naming conventions. It's unclear why they don't simply move these budget parts into the Athlon line, as Intel does with Celeron and older Pentium models.
