Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice on selecting RAM for an upgrade from 2400MHz. After browsing many online resources, I've only wasted time and need your guidance. I've decided on two options: G.Skill TridentZ Neo 16GB DDR4-3600MHz (F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC) as the primary choice, and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4-3200MHz (CMW16GX4M2C3200C16W) as a backup. Since my second-generation Ryzen processor is at 2700MHz, I'm aware that 3600MHz RAM can be challenging to run smoothly. It's listed in my motherboard QVL (Prime X470 Pro), but the 3200MHz model should still perform adequately. I'm hoping it will work well and meet expectations, even if I might struggle with syncing the lights. Please feel free to suggest alternatives! Thank you!
Don't stress over QVL lists; generally it should function adequately. You might need a bit of adjustment to hit the advertised speeds, but that's the main point. While achieving 3600 might be challenging with Zen's imc, don't worry about the QVL list either—even if RAM didn't reach 3200/3600, it should still work fine.
QVL collections aren't complete. Most cases function well. Running it at 3200MHz instead of 3600MHz won't significantly affect speed.
It generally doesn't matter. My RAM isn't in the QVL and functions well, but it won't boot at 3200MHz. I had to turn on XMP and set the clock to 3000MHz manually. As long as you're comfortable with that, it should work fine.
