My ram speed setting says 2666mhz, but I tried putting 2933mhz in my BIOS even though it was supposed to run on 2666mhz settings. Is that safe for my memory?

It is better than okay if the system stays stable and lag doesn't go up. You should run a memory test like AIDA32 on every setting to check if your memory speed actually improves or not.

Better if it stays steady and the lag doesn't get worse. You can check how much memory speed changes using a tool called Aida, so just run it on every setting to tell the difference between good and bad results for memory performance.
