It doesn’t matter how much I adjust the frequency—I can’t exceed 2133 MHz with my Trident Z Royal. Every time I try to push it higher, I get a “memory overclock failed” message. The RAM isn’t compatible with my motherboard’s QVL. Should I switch to a kit that works?

Your CPU model is unknown. Have you experimented with adjusting the SOC voltage between 1.12 and 1.15 volts?

XMP was activated, but the memory voltage wasn't increased. The OP's message indicates only Intel-related settings were shown. It seems AMD isn't part of this context.
