I found this while moving files between two laptops using an Ethernet connection. I set each adapter to a unique IP but kept them on the same subnet. After adjusting drive sharing and security in Windows, they managed to talk via the Ethernet cable. Switching to Wi-Fi allowed them to connect through my home network as well. My router uses DHCP in the 192.168.0.xxx range, so I expected no IP clashes. When I paused copying while Wi-Fi was off, then turned it back on, the speed dropped significantly—from about 11MBps to roughly 5MBps, which matches the maximum Wi-Fi performance on one laptop. This seems to happen when both Ethernet and Wi-Fi are active at once. Do you think Windows is intentionally using the slower connection? Is there something I overlooked?
