My new setup restarts itself while playing games. I experienced RAM problems with the motherboard after installation and bought a replacement today. Now it boots at the correct 6000mhz, thinking the issues were resolved. But while loading Starfield for the first time, I had to pause for about fifteen minutes and when I came back, the system restarted again. Could this be related to the power supply? I own an 850 Corsair RMe which is highly rated, and my 6950xt requires it as well. Should I return it for a more powerful unit?

You have a solid PSU, the problem shouldn't be there. That 850W requirement only comes into play if you have a CPU consuming 300W, which you don’t, so it’s more than sufficient.
Regarding RAM, what issues did you encounter? Did you swap it with the same kind or a different type? I’m asking since I often advise people to use EXPO for Ryzen 7000 builds because of XMP problems—I mean, not everyone does, but I did, which is why I don’t suggest using XMP.

I purchased a G.Skill Trident at 6000mhz with 32gb. It didn’t boot at EXPO above 5400 (extremely slow). Then I switched to a Kingston Fury 6000mhz 32gb RGB kit, and it booted immediately at EXPO.

Full build details:
7600x
6950xt
MSI b650 gaming plus WIFI
Corsair 850PMe
Kingston KC3000 Me.2
Win11

Updated: I recently played Starfield, which might have been another cause for the reboot. Not sure.

It just restarted while searching YouTube, no warnings or issues, everything restarted cleanly. The new RAM is installed and the system runs at 6000mhz, so I assumed the problem was resolved. I’m unsure if it’s still connected but my PC starts up very slowly on Windows after the last reboot—it only reaches the desktop screen and then stops working. There’s also some whine coming from the PSU, which makes me think a power issue might be involved. I’ve seen reports about bad CPUs causing such reboots.
