Hello everyone, today I purchased the HyperX Cloud II (wired version) as an upgrade for my Plantronics Gamecom 780, which I've used since 2015.
When compared to the Plantronics microphone, this one sounds significantly poorer—it's very quiet, muffled, and of lower quality overall.
I removed the Plantronics software, updated the firmware from the official site following the instructions, and reinstalled the driver. After restarting, I re-enabled it to install the latest version.
I adjusted the microphone quality to DVD quality at 48kHz, which improved slightly from the previous 44kHz setting, but it still didn’t match the original sound.
I turned off all noise-cancelling features on Discord, but that didn’t help.
Then I tried the + button on the sound card in the cable and increased the volume to its maximum.
As a final option, I downloaded "APO Equalizer" and used the plug-in version—Peace. It boosted my microphone’s output, though the sound quality remained close to that of a much cheaper headset, with noticeable background noise during conversation.
I’ve read many discussions on forums, and this was the only solution I found. Now I’m unsure if the microphone is faulty or just my expectations are too high compared to the Plantronics model.

I’ve tested the headset with the dongle on another machine, using MSI H-410M A Pro, i3 10100F, and RTX 3060 ti. The audio quality matched my previous setup. However, when connected to my phone, the sound becomes louder but suffers from poor clarity—certain letters, especially 'S', become excessively distorted during speech.
The volume is 100, and i cannot choose a boost, there is no option for that, i have a + and a - for the microphone from the dongle on the USB cable, but it's on max as well
