Hey, can I find another way to connect with a cable but skip the Wi-Fi? The current setup isn't working, and replacing it is costly. Is there a more affordable fix that will help me out?

I'll guess you've already tried some basic stuff, like using a different cable that works, installing drivers and enabling adapters, plus turning off features like EEE and power saving settings. If the port is definitely broken then any USB 3.0 ethernet adapter will do (just look for one with speeds of 10/100/1000Mbps).

Yeah, the deal is way too pricey to fix this, because buying a whole new laptop costs me more... Would that adapter just plug in like a normal one and work right?

Yeah, when a laptop is really old, getting a new part like the motherboard usually isn't worth the cost. So if you need something simple to get it working again, just using that power adapter should be enough.
