I don't understand what's happening, but one day everything changed suddenly. My screen started flickering and then went black, after which it shut down completely. When I turned it back on, it restarted into Windows exactly where I left it. But now I can't even start Windows. As soon as I power it up, it just turns off. Even in the BIOS, the screen keeps flickering a lot.

I tried installing a fresh Windows using the USB installation media, but the problems continue.

Please help me – I can't afford a new computer (it's kind of broken).

CPU: i5 4120u [4th gen]
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 820M
OS: Windows 10 home
RAM: 4 gigabytes
ROM: 512 GB SSD
Device: Dell Inpsiron 15 3000 series

Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information. Provide the power supply specifications, including voltage, amperage, and age, along with its condition (original, build, refurbished, or used). List each connected peripheral device.

does it occur when using an external monitor via HDMI?
test without battery, just AC adapter
swap CMOS battery (CR-2032)
could be a defective GPU, faulty LCD panel, or LVDS cable from motherboard to LCD panel

I attempted to link my laptop to an external monitor, but the screen remains blank. The device powers off as expected.

the date and time in bios are incorrect.
with these symptoms, it should be a hardware issue.

There was a minor observation I overlooked: in the bios it appears the screen briefly glitches before powering off. However, once the system starts up, the computer immediately turns off.

yes, it can occur using just the main battery or without inserting the main battery into the AC power adapter.

This occurs with both devices. In fact, I discovered it might be related to the LCD backlight issue, as I can see the screen clearly with a flashlight. I can view the windows and operate it using a light source. It might be necessary to replace the backlight. Thank you for your assistance – really appreciated 🙏 🙌
