The Quest 2 headset causes severe screen distortion when connected to your computer.
I purchased my quest 2 roughly eight months ago, and for a while everything seemed fine with the quest link. My system had a strong PC, the cable I bought functioned perfectly, and it connected smoothly to USB 3.1 ports. Then, a few months passed and screen tearing began—severe enough that even before launching any game or desktop, the interface would freeze. I searched online for fixes but found nothing useful. I tried boosting power, reinstalling drivers, toggling settings, yet nothing resolved the issue. Eventually, I decided to reset my PC completely, and it worked again. After clearing everything on the C drive, the quest link functioned properly. However, recently it started again, despite no changes—same cables, same ports, but persistent screen distortion. It almost looked like two images were layered, with one staying steady while the other crashed repeatedly, creating a confusing effect. One possibility was using only a 480 Mbps USB cable, which worked without issues, though slower than expected. Switching to a 5 Gbps cable caused immediate problems. Perhaps my USB 3.1 ports weren’t receiving enough power? I was certain they were connected to the correct motherboard slots. Please help—preferably avoid another reset. Here are my specs: AMD 6800xt, Ryzen 9 5950x, 32 GB DDR4, 3600 MHz RAM, running on an M.2 NVMe drive, equipped with an AIO Elite water cooler.
