It seems compatible with a mid-range GPU like the HD 3000 iGPU running at 768p and 60fps. There’s a guide available that explains optimization tips for such setups.

Prior to moving to Haswell, I owned a Q9400 and its performance matched that of an i3-4170.

That sounds promising, the 1050Ti would complement it well, unless you prefer going with a 470.

I would install the RX 470 to avoid any performance issues

It seems you're experiencing some issues with running GTA V on your current system. The fact that you're still using Sandy Bridge-EP suggests compatibility considerations, but the game can be demanding.

I question whether boosting performance further is possible with a CPU upgrade (+5 FPS) and a 3770K processor running at 4.4GHz.

Absolutely, everything looks good now. Switching from FX really improved the performance—just a few extra frames and no stuttering or lag.

Consider upgrading now or wait for a better option. The Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 is powerful, but whether it's worth using depends on your current needs and the specific tasks you're running.

after upgrading from the i5 760 to a higher-end processor, I moved from medium to high settings. I experienced stuttering at 55 frames per second and kept getting stuck at around 65 FPS or more. The 775 seems to be struggling too.

4.4GHz FX works well with a 3.9GHz Sandy Bridge. The frame rate improved from 45fps to 50fps with smoothness, and reaching 470 gave me 60fps at WFHD.
