Hi everyone, I recently upgraded my PC from an i3 7100 to an i5 13600k. I also replaced the motherboard and RAM. After the upgrade, I decided to run a stress test to check how the new components perform. I started using Cinabench and after about five minutes, my PSU began making buzzing sounds, so I stopped the test out of concern it might damage my newly built system. I also recall seeing a red light on the motherboard during that time. Recently, while gaming, I noticed the fan speeds increasing significantly, which was unusual.

Here are my full specifications:
i5 13600k
GTX 1660ti (ASUS)
Z-690-I motherboard
2x 8Gb Kingston Fury beast DDR5
2x SATA SSD
1x HDD
1x M.2 NVMe
1x Optical drive
Thermaltake Smart RGB 600w
power supply

I used the PSU calculator with these settings and thought the recommended power was around 460W, so I’m confident everything should work fine.

You upgraded from a low-wattage CPU to one capable of handling a less-than-perfect PSU. The Smart series, known as Thermaltake's budget line, produces decent products but tends to cost more. If that PSU matches the age of the i3-7100, it’s probably time to switch to a high-quality 650W or better unit with warranty coverage. The RM650x is currently around $105.
