The PS5 experienced crashes shortly after beginning gameplay.
Hello, I recently received a returned PS5 at MSRP through Best Buy. The employee only allowed me to shop using the reason "Front USB not working." It surprised me when it crashed immediately after opening—though I thought it was a one-time issue. No. The console fails right after launching, showing a window for 30 seconds to an hour. Most crashes happen within a minute once the game starts, and it can run for hours outside of gaming. I tried everything: reseating the HDMI or port/cable, switching to a new power cable, adjusting settings on the monitor, disabling rest mode in PS5, turning off HDMI link, disabling Ray Tracing and Performance Mode, rebuilding the database, updating software, and even calling Sony. They said it would contact them tomorrow if the new power cord didn’t work. Any suggestions? I waited a long time for this model at MSRP and now it doesn’t work. I’m not paying scalpers but I don’t trust someone else to fix it. Please let me know what else can be done. Thank you, Yassir C.
Here is the thing, I bought power cable (did not come with anything else than the console itself), games, controllers and accessories, but let's be honest, a PS5 is so damn rare that I view returning it as a last step. Right now, I'm waiting for a power cable in case the one I used was not "official" enough. Then I will try to send it to Sony for repairs. I am asking here if there might be something I missed, just in case
It looks like you're considering two options: fixing the issue at Sony or sending it back. I'll help you clarify your next steps.
