If the paste doesn’t turn into chalk, it shouldn’t be a big issue. I’ve seen some pastes that stick in place and you have to shake them off—like they were stuck together. But if you keep rotating and gently shifting the cooler, the suction will loosen without forcing the CPU out of its socket.

It seems the bottom row was removed from the bracket for the third time. I should have waited to take the photos after it was unbent—it still hasn’t snapped since then. I’m concerned about trying again, though, because it will eventually break. Maybe I’ll need a different model next time.
