I've got a Ryzen 5 1600AF and 3200MHz Patriot Viper Steel RAM. When I first assembled my PC in March, the CPU didn't support the 3200MHz and I thought it was because it's a second-generation Ryzen with a max of 2933MHz, so I kept it at that speed. Later in December, I replaced my stock AMD cooler with a quiet Pure Rock 2 cooler to lower the idle temperature from 55°C. (I suspect I might have installed it incorrectly or didn't clean the PC thoroughly.) After installing the new cooler, temperatures stabilized and the system ran smoothly for several weeks. Recently, after cleaning the PC and re-cabling, it booted up fine. But today, when I tried to power it on, it cycled back to 2133MHz and then to 2933MHz again. The RAM also dropped to 2133MHz before reaching 2933MHz. Why did this happen? I didn’t touch the RAM modules during cleaning, and I’d been trying to overclock them at 4.1GHz with a voltage of 1.3125V. I’m not sure if that’s affecting the CPU performance or if it’s just a temporary issue. I haven’t used the system in a year, so I’m not too concerned about the current speed.

Also make sure to refresh the BIOS settings. This often resolves memory issues.

Ensure your bios reflects the newest stable version and make xmp memory profile 1 the default setting. Avoid altering memory beyond what’s specified; changes can cause instability if you attempt to overclock the memory controller, which is integrated into the CPU. It’s advisable to test without overclocking first.

I wasn't aware that was typical. I've never changed the BIOS settings before, and the warning states ASRock doesn't advise updating this BIOS when using Pinnacle, Raven, or Summit Ridge CPUs.
