Hello everyone I just moved from an R5 2600 to a R9 5900X. Under heavy load the CPU reaches 4.7-9ghz, but when I run a game the clock drops instantly to 2.2-2.23ghz. (PBO is active in BIOS) Curve optimizer is running all cores in Ryzen master and the Windows power plan is checked. Performance stays stable under full load so it shouldn’t be throttling. I strongly suggest updating your BIOS and resetting all settings in Ryzen Master (optional). Also, refresh your motherboard chipset and CPU software, along with Windows to the newest version. Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. (To verify) Check if Windows is restricting your CPU performance. I’m certain Windows can limit CPU speed—once I disabled four cores and capped them at 3GHz for a joke, it worked that way. Visit your BIOS, adjust the fan curve, and turn on XMP. It seems like a power-related concern—it might be worth removing the Ryzen master entirely just to confirm. Also, could you verify the maximum wattage your CPU actually draws?

You've made good progress so far. To prepare before installing HWiNFO, try running God of War with maximum settings and ensure your CPU runs around 3.0–3.5 GHz. Also, make sure DOCP is set to 3200 MHz and PBO is disabled in BIOS. Once that's done, you can proceed with the installation. Keep up the effort—it's great you're learning!
You should run hwinfo and cpu stress test, prime95 or whatever you want. Look at the wattage in the maximum column and current and report what you see. Then reset that (the values in hw Monitor) and game for a bit and go back and look at the max wattage there. The problem is that if you are limited by your board, we can't really find something that is wrong and fixable... And can you please give the full name of Our motherboard? I looked it up and there ist only a pro version I can find. Is that the one you have? That one officially supports your cpu...

I've experienced PBO intermittently, but checking the hardware info shows the system behaves similarly when off. When running heavy tasks, the clock drops significantly, leaving little thermal margin. It seems to keep around 4.4 GHz through a benchmark, dropping to about 2.6 GHz once I switch tabs quickly away from games. I've attached some photos for reference. Updated: After removing Ryzen Master and resetting PBO in BIOS, I'm still experiencing issues—possibly the MOBO. I've reached my CPU's maximum EDC/Package and TDC settings, and the average score on Cinebench remains steady during a 10-minute multicore test. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
