Hello, I understand your situation clearly. Your PSU seems to be restricting performance right now, and a replacement is being prepared. You currently have a GTX 3050 paired with a 5600X, whereas you previously used a GTX 1050. With the GTX 1050, your CPU would normally run at around 4.65 GHz during gameplay. After switching to the GTX 3050, it reaches that frequency briefly before dropping to about 4.5 GHz or less for a moment. Is this typical behavior? Are you wondering if this is directly linked to the PSU limiting power delivery? Could such a cap cause significant drops in FPS—like from 130 FPS at low settings to around 20 in Fortnite? In Valorant, you experience stable performance with the GTX 3050 on ultra settings, reaching up to 150 FPS on average, while on the GTX 1050 it averages 240 FPS max. On Ultra in League of Legends, you see about 120 FPS at high settings and around 35 seconds in gameplay. It seems this frequency shift might be contributing, but it’s not the only factor.
Initially, a PSU isn't at fault for your frame drop. If it lacked sufficient power, it would shut down right away after overheating. Also, did you install DDU prior to updating the drivers? Your CPU isn't ramping up as expected, probably due to increased heat from the 3080. The GTX 1050 generates far less warmth compared to that.
I applied DDU correctly, but my CPU stays cool. It would hit max boost at 70°C, while the 3080 barely generates heat in Fortnite. The 1050 used to reach 70°C at full load, which was the standard setting across games. Why does it suddenly drop so much in Fortnite, Valorant, LOL, AC, FH5, Halo Infinite, or GhostRunnerRT? Everything seems fine there! Even with the lower model, I get 90–150 FPS in Fortnite at the same settings as in the attached video.
I adjusted all possible configurations, but the outcomes remained consistent. With that GPU, my CPU never reached 4.6GHz, while the other GPU maintained a steady 4.65GHz during gaming sessions. After enabling auto, Windows reported 2667 in Windows settings.
