She wants a reliable internet connection for everyone without slowdowns. She considered a plan at $40 per month with 25 Mbps, but then discovered a modem that supports up to 500 Mbps. She’s unsure about the connection process and whether a modem requires an additional plan or payment. She’s looking for clarity on how it all works and needs guidance since she’s not very familiar with internet details.

It functions similarly to a translator for the cable signal provided by your ISP.

The modem indicates it supports speeds up to 500 mbps, though it doesn’t actually deliver that rate. I’d choose a plan offering faster connections; 25 mbps would be insufficient for a 40$/month bill, and 100 mbps or more is typical in the US or Europe. Some regions offer 25 mbps at a very low cost, making it a viable option.

Find a plan offering speeds around 500 Mbps. Check for providers near your location and compare options.

Visit your ISP or their website, review the available plans. I’m ready to examine them whenever you tell me which provider you’re using (like Comcast in the US or MEO in Portugal, etc.).

Where are you located? My current speed is around 1gbps, but I’m based in Europe. The maximum I see is about 200mbps, which is roughly 55 euros. For a decent connection of 100mbps, prices are climbing to 35-40 euros per month. Rates vary significantly across different countries in Europe.

I reside in Portugal; Western Europe remains largely consistent (affordable internet).

Really? I’m paying $40 a month and only getting 25 MBs.
