I own an rtx 2060 super, equipped with an i5 9400T and 32 GB ddr4 memory. My SSD was only 240 GB, so I needed a replacement drive. I didn’t prioritize loading speed, so I swapped out my SSD for a new 1 TB HDD. That’s when the situation began—I could run games that loaded all files into memory before playing, without any stuttering... small titles like disintegration and csgo worked smoothly. Open-world games, however, suffered greatly, causing noticeable stutter when the disk was in use. When the disk usage dropped to 0% or 20%, the stutter intensified, affecting games such as rdr2, gta 5, watchdogs 2, and final fantasy xv. I’m convinced the issue lies with the HDD. Adding to my concerns... I was more certain yesterday when purchasing FIFA 21. It stuttered during match loading while I was training, but after that, it ran smoothly in the game. This suggests the files were now in memory. I need to know whether I should replace my HDD or if there’s a cheaper solution, like a software fix to repair the drive and eliminate the stutter... (some might say an HDD isn’t ideal for gaming, but it only slows down loading times, right?)

Cheers...😊😊

5400 exacerbates the issue. Performance with the pagefile drops noticeably. A 5400 hdd is mainly for general use; a 7200 would suffice instead.

The hdd operates at a typical speed of 7200rpm, which generally works well. However, certain games, particularly open-world titles, may load assets dynamically. This speed also significantly benefits SSD performance, aiding not only in preloading games and levels but overall efficiency.

Is it certain that it's the HDD? Are all HDDs with 5400 RPM prone to causing stutters in games?
