I am purchasing a PC for Christmas and received the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop Tower prebuilt, available at Walmart during the Black Friday sale. I understand a few upgrades are needed for smooth operation. I’m curious about the available motherboards to explore options for more RAM, a larger SSD or hard drive, and whether the case is ATX or M-ATX. That would help me plan further. Thanks for your assistance!

It seems the current configuration isn't modifiable, and the IO shield can't be disabled.

Sure, I can help with that. Do you know if the motherboard includes an open M.2 NVMe port?

Only that particular motherboard model is available. That’s why replacing it usually means either discarding the entire system or taking it to HP for a new board, which seems more like a profit-driven approach. Regarding the M.2 NVME port, I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Switching cases would require a different motherboard.
