The port forwarding and DMZ configuration isn't functioning properly.
I was configuring port forwarding, but it kept failing. I tried listing the device(s) and then putting them in the DMZ, but both attempts were unsuccessful. I already had static IP addresses set up, yet whenever I tested a port, it showed as closed. When checking the WAN IP of my router (the one linked to the ISP), it differed from what I saw in my IP address tool. Does this mean I won’t be able to set up port forwarding? My ISP is Biznet Networks if that clarifies anything.
When the two IP addresses are different, your ISP might be employing carrier-grade NAT. In this scenario, port forwarding will not function.
They may not be able to do it either. If someone else on the network has access, you won't be able to. Port forwarding is limited to one IP address, so if another user has it open, you can't use it. Some internet service providers refuse to help, or you might talk to someone who doesn't understand what port forwarding is.
