Hi, I see the issue is happening sometimes when playing games and there are sudden lag spikes. Both you and your wife experience this, which might point to a network problem rather than just your ISP. You mentioned testing could help, but you're unsure how. Your setup looks like this: your AP uses a 1GB cable, connected via a switch with a 2.5GB link between PCs. The AP is a TP-link AC1750 in AP mode, which doesn’t handle NAT well. Your ISP router seems to manage the traffic, and your PCs are wired through it. When you ping your wife’s PC it works, but her PC shows latency on ping—especially for Google. This suggests the problem might be with the network path or device configuration rather than just speed. You may want to check for other devices on the same network, test connectivity between switches, and see if the issue persists on different cables or devices.

Yes, you're connecting via wired Ethernet. Did you restart the router?

The router is a device that connects your devices to the internet, and it's typically around 10 years old.

Are you tracking your network usage while noticing ping increases? Overload can lead to higher delays. Even with 99% CPU on devices like switches, APs, and routers, keeping everything monitored is challenging. What type of internet connection do you have—DSL, cable, fiber? You might try connecting a laptop directly to the ISP router and testing pings to Google to check for similar patterns.
