Hello. About a year ago I upgraded from a 3060ti to a 7800xt (wohoo). It's been smooth so far, except for one minor problem. Occasionally, when I switch tabs from Chrome to Chrome, the browser will freeze. I’ll take a screenshot once it happens again, but generally it just pauses whatever I’m looking at. Once it resumes, the interface returns to normal. It’s as if it’s capturing a snapshot of the page I was on, and only by minimizing or repositioning the window can I stop it from freezing. This issue didn’t occur with my 3060.

Did you notice a change when you switched? Is this consistent across all matches? Have you experimented with windowed or fullscreen options? Have you attempted to reinstall Chrome?

Yes, I confirmed it. I only use borderless windowed mode, not fullscreen—I could give it a shot, could you? I haven’t noticed any crashes on my desktop.

I only run Chrome, that’s all I’m comfortable with. I don’t mind how much RAM it uses, unless it matters—I’ll just shut it down after gaming. For browsing or other tasks, I’ll switch to my phone.

Try a different browser and check the results.

Would you like additional details? Options include alternative games, varying window configurations, or browser settings. You can also experiment with hardware acceleration in Chrome to observe its impact.

You've moved to OperaGX and haven't encountered any issues, which suggests the problem might be specific to Chrome.
