He recently got a gaming PC, and when I first played games, it was stuck at 60 frames per second. After adjusting it, FPS improved to 75-95. Then I switched it back to high instead of ultra, and it reached 120 FPS without any noticeable change. It seems the issue might be related to settings or performance rather than my focus. Could anyone help clarify what’s happening? Thanks!

Are you using a 60Hz monitor? If it's running at that speed, the additional frames might marginally reduce input lag by a tiny fraction of a second.

depends on your monitor's refresh rate, if it's 60hz, you wont see any smoother animations if your game is running above 60 you would feel like it's more responsive as there is less gap between input and display, but you would also experience tearing but some people are also not able to tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz at first, it takes them awhile edit: this video explains it better, i suppose Spoiler

I see no change noticeable above 60fps. Lower frame rates stand out clearly, though. I can't tell the difference on my 144 or 300 monitors. Size and visual quality are more important to me.

I felt the same way when I first began gaming at 120Hz—I didn’t see any change from 60Hz. Once I played for a while at 120Hz, I once capped the monitor at 60Hz and quickly noticed some issues. It seems you might need to adapt to higher refresh rates.

You have a monitor that doesn’t support a refresh rate above 60Hz, yet you upgraded to 75Hz without seeing improvement. Your experience differs from your PS4, which runs smoothly at 30 FPS even below 60Hz. This inconsistency might be due to differences in how the system processes graphics or display settings.

Changing from 30 to 60—or the reverse—is clearly noticeable for many. Beyond 60 it fades much more. It’s hard for me to spot the difference between 75 and 100 fps, or 120 and 160. Maybe only a few are really sensitive and catch even tiny changes, while most don’t.

I'm really responsive to this situation, so I'm capping at 60 frames per second. Even a tiny drop of one frame causes an immediate problem, making me think about reinstalling Windows... Ugh. (just a bit overstating it)
