The PC starts up in Windows but displays a black screen.
I recently purchased a GTX 1080 Ti FE from eBay, advertised as tested and functional. Despite this, I'm unable to connect any display. When the PC powers on, it boots into Windows through the speakers, the GPU indicator lights up and turns off intermittently, and the fan spins at normal speed—everything appears normal. However, when the monitor is active, it claims to be receiving output via DisplayPort but displays a black screen.
I've tried several solutions: reseating the GPU multiple times, checking all display ports, updating DDU drivers, using different monitors, switching cables, reinstalling RAM, cleaning PCIe pins, removing the CMOS battery and updating BIOS. Everything functions correctly with my old GPU (GTX 1080) in a similar setup. My CPU lacks integrated graphics, and I don't have any additional GPU cables to test. Since I can't access Windows to investigate further, should I consider returning it?
Details:
- Motherboard: AORUS B550 Elite AX V2
- CPU: Ryzen 9 5900X
- GPU: GTX 1080 Ti FE
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2x16 3600 mt/s
- Power Supply: EVGA 850 B3
With a strix 1080 non the previous GPU, the HDMI connection isn't functioning.
To confirm the PC is booting into Windows, check the system settings or use the BIOS/UEFI options to verify the operating system during startup.
