My computer becomes slow when handling big files, leading to cursor issues and delays. It struggles with file transfers between drives. I tried moving 280 GB from the PC to an external drive, but the process caused my mouse and PC to lag heavily during the transfer. The system ran at high end specs last year, yet performance dropped significantly while files moved.

Check the Resource Monitor for SSD capacity details. PSU specifications include make, model, wattage, age, condition. External hard drive information is listed separately. Host PC port or USB hub power source for external drives is noted.

all ssd drives are below 60% capacity and the hard drive is brand new from Seagate. The power supply unit is a Corsair HX1200, I think, and it came in February. The external storage was connected via USB and powered directly from the outlet. In Resource Monitor, nothing was above 10%.

HDD type: Seagate, specific model/version?
Transfer method: What tool is used for file transfers? (Copy/Paste, drag and drop, app, utility, script like DOS/Powershell, etc.)?
Source of large files: Which file formats are involved? Are they being indexed? Is AV/malware scanning enabled?
