Hello, I've faced this problem intermittently for about a year now. Initially it was quite infrequent, but lately it's been happening more often (about once or twice every two weeks). Occasionally, especially during gameplay, my computer just... shuts down. It restarts itself automatically, without any blue screen or other issues. I've looked into the Event Viewer, but apart from an unexpected restart, nothing stands out.
To give you a brief overview, here are my PC details:
- Graphics card: MSI 2070 Super
- CPU: AMD 5800X
- Motherboard: Gigabyte X570
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo (32 GB)
- Power supply: Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold, 850W
- Case: Cooler Master NR200P
- Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer 2, dual monitors at 1440p and 1080p
- Operating system: Running two monitors, 1440p and 1080p
If I missed any other important specs, let me know. When I first assembled my PC on January 11, 2020, I experienced a blue screen after about 30 minutes of use. That was due to my RAM not supporting 3600MHz. I resolved it by downclocking to 3200MHz and kept it stable ever after. Back then, I had the Ryzen 3600 and a 750W Corsair PSU, using the NZXT H200 case. Even then, occasional random restarts occurred, though less frequently than now.
Later, when I upgraded my case, CPU, and PSU, I accidentally connected my old Corsair cable to the GPU. At that point, the PC wouldn't power on, and the new PSU emitted a click sound before the MoBo's light blinked. After five minutes of searching, I found the problem, replaced the cable with the one from Cooler Master, and it worked perfectly.
After gaming sessions, my PC would randomly restart without any errors or blue screen. Event Viewer showed only an unscheduled restart. I ran MemTest overnight (8 hours) and got no failures.
So here I am today, dealing with another unexpected restart. This has happened with my old PSU and CPU as well as the new ones. I can't pinpoint exactly what triggers the restarts—I don’t know the cause.
Also, my temperatures stay within normal ranges under load (CPU max 75°C, GPU max 81°C). The only possible culprit might be an unstable power outlet or electricity. Unfortunately, I can't test that easily.
I'm sharing this to see if anyone has encountered similar issues. I've updated drivers and BIOS, but I'm unsure what else could help. I've attached my HWMonitor readings from a 3DMark timespy test, along with the score.

It might be a scheduled system task running at specific times. Have you installed the newest BIOS, chipset, and GPU drivers? Is the system restarting abruptly or shutting down completely before rebooting? You should verify if your power supply unit is dusty and has sufficient airflow—it can overheat without reporting temperatures to the motherboard. Also monitor other temperature sensors; a low core might be the issue, while overheating memory could be another cause. If your case is dusty, cleaning it and ensuring fans run properly for the GPU is advisable. Unfortunately, you likely can't recreate the problem consistently, so I can only offer general suggestions. A faulty motherboard or CPU is possible but less probable unless you altered clocks or voltages.
I could review the system tasks. All the newest BIOS and drivers are installed. The machine seems to be restarting again—like pressing the reset button. There’s sufficient airflow around the PSU and other components, and it never felt excessively warm. The GPU is a bit outdated, so I performed an overclock before. Now I avoid pushing it too high. I can clean the case with compressed air, but currently everything looks fine. One point you mentioned was undervolting the CPU based on some YouTube guides. It might still be undervolted to around -12 volts, but I couldn’t go lower to -20 because it wasn’t stable enough. If I had damaged the CPU that way, I’d be upset. All the videos about undervolting Ryzen seem safe. I’ll reset the CPU to its default settings without any adjustments and see if the system restarts properly. Although these restarts did occur with my older 3600 model, which wasn’t overclocked or undervolted, the only similarity here is the motherboard. It’s a hassle if it needs replacement, since this one wasn’t inexpensive. Thanks for your response.
