The PC remains locked on the green startup screen.
Hello, I completed my build yesterday but once it's powered on everything appears normal until the debug light stays green. When I connect it to the monitor, nothing shows up. I'm unsure what to do right now—I've tried removing and reinserting the CMOS battery after 10 minutes, and also swapped out the SSD, but it doesn't seem to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Here are the details about the setup:
- Core components and power source included
- Diagnostic lights vary by model, unclear meaning of green indicator
- Recommendation: Simplify to essentials only
- If graphics are present, remove the card
- Use a single RAM stick
- Disconnect all non-essential peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor, power)
Here are the PC specifications from the page. I’ll note your plan to run it with a single RAM stick.
I attempted to run it with just a single RAM stick, but it's now stuck at the VGA debug light. Earlier it had been stuck on the boot light.
Consider using the alternative stick. A graphics card is essential for running, but do you have another one nearby for testing? If it were a faulty boot device, it should at least start and show a no/bad disk message. I’m not convinced unless there’s a specific reason MSI removed them—someone should clarify that, unless a new MSI board is available.
They generally work fine. Green usually means 'boot' so the system believes it has started. What you're asking is about connecting the GPU to the monitor first, before trying to power on the machine. If you connect it later, it won't detect the signal properly.
Upgrade your GPU. If it keeps refusing to start, perform a BIOS reset. Disconnect the PSU, hold the power for 10 seconds, briefly short the reset pins (jbat1 in the diagram) using a screwdriver for 10 seconds, reconnect the PSU and attempt to boot.
