This is my first time posting, and I’m dealing with a rather odd problem that’s hard to understand.
Hardware:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Aurora AC Pro
- CPU: Ryzen 5800X
- GPU: MSI 4070 OC
- RAM: Corsair 32GB 3600Mhz
- Storage: Two Samsung NVMe drives plus a 120 Samsung SSD
- Power Supply: 1000W MSI 3.0 (previously used a 4090, which was replaced due to redundancy)
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
Lately, I’ve noticed some games freezing unexpectedly. During high load, the CPU and GPU usage drops to near zero, causing the system to freeze for about 1-2 seconds before resuming normally. The timing of these freezes follows a consistent pattern now—primarily affecting games like GTA5, Star Citizen, and MSFS. I’ve tried various fixes so far, but nothing seems to resolve it. It’s been running smoothly for around two years since the build.
What I’ve done:
- Disconnected all USB devices except mouse and keyboard (also tested older models)
- Verified all PC connections
- Reinstalled Windows from scratch (current version 24H2)
- Updated drivers, including some older graphics drivers
- Attached a screenshot of the issue for reference
I’m open to suggestions and hope someone can help. This setup has worked well before, so I suspect something minor was missed during the fresh install.

What BIOS version are you using for your motherboard?
I reinstalled Windows from scratch. I was on 23H2 now upgraded to 24H2 builds.
Did you recreate your installer to check for corruption? Speaking of installers, did you install the OS in offline mode? Then later, I installed all necessary drivers in an elevated command with the latest version while not connected to the internet?
