I've noticed a problem where my PC screen goes black and the fans run at full speed. I have to press the power button to shut it down. It hasn't been a major issue before, but it occurred three times in quick succession over a few minutes. Anyone have suggestions on how to begin troubleshooting or what steps to take first? Thank you ahead of time.

their CX series have always been of low quality.
some mediocre ones meant for basic use,
others just lack proper construction.
it's almost certain this PSU isn't up to the task.
i’d swap it out for a better one.
even if it doesn’t solve the issue, i’d prefer to know i had something superior.
you might want to try a higher-quality power supply yourself,
or let a local shop examine the setup with their own tools.

Could we try a software verification first?

The observation that the fans operate at full speed suggests a temperature-related issue.

However, you're omitting the black screen that appears with the 100% GPU fans issue. This pairing is typically linked to power consumption.
