Recently I attempted to swap out my CPU cooler and upon completion, only a black screen appeared while the rest of the system operated normally. The power button activated the PC but it wouldn’t shut down or reset properly. I followed every advice from the "PC won't post" forum, repositioned components twice, removed the CMOS battery, and even used a screwdriver to try resetting the machine. I’ve experienced this problem before, especially when using the shutdown button in Windows 11 instead of sleep mode, which caused it to fail. Now I’m facing more difficulties getting it to post correctly. Before this change, I’d also shut down via the Windows power button the night prior and then unplugged the unit to replace the CPU cooler. Specs: Motherboard B550M DS3H AC rev1.5, CPU AMD Ryzen 5600g, GPU AMD Radeon 6600, RAM 16GB.
Experiencing the same boot loop issue for a month now... I'm not trying to take over your discussion, but the setup is almost identical. Mostly the same components and nearly everything has been swapped except the whole PC. No progress so far. Trying different RAM settings and using a 8GB Crucial stick didn't help. I can access BIOS and have both new and old versions installed. Reset CMOS, changed cables, and the CPU is about six months old with no signs of damage from this work. We should figure out what's causing it together.
I managed to get it running by replacing each component on my PC with parts from my brother’s old system until everything booted up properly. I started with the CPU (AMD 3600) and moved down through the motherboard, which finally got it working at first boot. The B550 UD AC board is performing well so far. I’m not sure if you’ve tried swapping the motherboard yet—it might be the reason it’s still not posting correctly. Hope this helps!
Great to hear everything is working smoothly now. I also got mine up today after swapping out all components except the APU/CPU. The RAM was delivered yesterday, which was the final piece besides the CPU—no changes needed. I chose to use my old 3400G and it’s running just fine. Apart from the significant performance drop, I’m happy the system is stable. I plan to hold off on upgrading to a 5700G until the bills are sorted, saving for that upgrade then. Thanks again for your support!
