The PC is frozen in BIOS and cannot boot via USB to reinstall Windows.
Ideas are disappearing, I’m getting frustrated.
My computer won’t start into the operating system, can’t reinstall Windows because it’s trapped in the BIOS, tried several times, once it worked and I began the reset process, but it kept freezing on the BIOS again—like it was stuck.
The loading screen just stopped moving, as if it had frozen.
This is the most difficult situation; yesterday random freezes happened often, and a couple of force shutdowns would get me back into Windows, but after doing a CMOS reset today, things only got worse.
I’m also unable to access the auto repair screen since I’m still locked in the BIOS loading circle.
My troubleshooting steps:
- Ran memtest, no errors detected
- Verified all drives are healthy via Crystaldiskinfo
- Reset CMOS
- Restored BIOS to default settings
- Removed all drives except the SSD
- Checked SSD health through BIOS
- Swapped the NVMe card to a different slot
- Tried resetting the PC again, but the issue of getting stuck in the loading circle persisted
- Disabled Secure Boot
- Performed a clean format of the SSD using Windows
Please help, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
Where did you source the installer for the OS?
Hey, thanks for your prompt reply. I've recorded my specifications above. The BIOS version is E7C91AMS.AA1, built on 05/26/2022. It was downloaded from the official Microsoft site and installed onto my USB drive yesterday using the media installer. Recently, after formatting the SSD via the BIOS, it froze again—removed the SSD, then used the Windows installation tool, but it still froze. It seems there might not be any driver-related issues.
Not sure what to do next, someone please help.

I can't access the auto repair screen either because I'm still locked in the BIOS loading circle.

- Tried resetting the PC again, but it failed because the stuck circle issue remains.
- Disabled Secure Boot.
- Formatted the SSD using Windows.
- Attempted to boot from Linux, but the Windows USB stick still freezes and doesn't work.

Have you attempted shutting off all power for an overnight period? I understand it may seem extreme, but it has resolved problems several times before. Disconnect everything and avoid contacting it for eight hours.
