The PC frequently shuts down during games, and a lot of troubleshooting has been completed already.
Hey everyone, I’m looking for some guidance. It seems this issue pops up mainly when the system is under heavy load or during gaming sessions. I experienced it once while running a full stress test on all components—hard drives, memory, GPU, and CPU using AIDA 64—after switching monitors. It didn’t occur during Cinebench or FurMark for extended periods. Sometimes it’s unpredictable; one day I could play games for hours without problems, but the next day my PC would crash after just an hour.
I’ve noticed high memory usage, often above 40%, even when not gaming. A MEMTest showed no errors, which is odd. About two and a half months ago, I upgraded to a new 2TB NVMe SSD on my Z270 motherboard. While installing it, I had to remove the whole motherboard for the M.2 drive. Both power LED lights looked identical—no clear sign of a problem.
Now, during gaming, my PC tends to shut down completely. I can turn it back on quickly if needed. In Event Viewer, the message reads: “The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.” (Event ID 41, Task 63).
Additionally, when I power on, I sometimes see a warning about an unexpected shutdown at a specific time. My specs include a GTX 1080TI, 16GB RAM at 3200MHz, HyperX PSU, Silverstone Platinum 1000W, MSI Z270i, i7-7700K CPU, 3TB HDD, and an SSD setup. I’ve tried updating BIOS, firmware, and drivers, but the issue persists.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
It seems like you're experiencing problems with power stability. You might want to consider using a stabilizer or an ups to improve it.
This might affect other devices in the house too. There are two more units that work fine. I've also switched the power supply and used a different PSU, and I'm using a different outlet on the power board.
Check the specifications for performance at elevated temperatures.
H100i Corsair cooler performs well under gaming workloads, typically handling 40-70 watts depending on core count, with a GPU load of 50-80 watts. The CPU experiences higher usage during stress tests like Cinebench multicore, yet it remains stable without crashing the system.
It seems like your computer is experiencing the same issue with crashes during certain games, possibly linked to a Windows update. Anyone else encountered this problem?
