Hello, I changed my CPU from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 5 5600x and it stopped working. I assumed the BIOS might need an update for the new chip, but even after reverting, it didn’t respond. After resetting CMOS, disconnecting and reconnecting the GPU, swapping RAM and cables, none of these steps fixed the issue. I’m unsure what else to try and would really appreciate your guidance. Inspect CPU pins or socket for any damage (very uncommon). Remove the system from its case and place it on a table temporarily. Connect only the essential components: GPU, CPU, cooler, PSU, and one memory stick. Check if you can proceed in this manner. If yes, update the BIOS immediately.
I understand that some of the Ryzen builds I've assembled recently ran slowly during startup with a new processor. How much time can you expect? I'd revert to my 3600, reset the CMOS by connecting the pins (the small jumper marked CLRTC at the board's bottom), and then attempt to power it on. Allow it to run for a few minutes while fans spin and it actually starts, giving it time to self-configure. After that, update your BIOS to version 4204 via the Asus support site. Power down, swap CPUs back and reapply the CLRTC reset, then let it settle again. Give it a try and observe the results—I can't guarantee anything, but this is what I've personally experienced with Ryzen over the past couple of projects. The last three models (2600, 3600X, and 3800X) needed a brief pause before they successfully passed POST the first time. That definitely put me on edge.
