The PC fails to start properly.
Hey there, so last night I played a game and the PC stopped working suddenly. There were no error messages, just a crash with no sound and a black screen. The machine didn’t shut down right away. I think I had to turn it off manually. When I tried to restart, nothing happened—even after unplugging the power cable and putting it back in, it turned on again. Once I logged in, the mouse cursor stopped working and turned off once more. This time it didn’t restart, so I decided to wait a bit before trying again. In the morning it worked fine until a moment later it shut down again. Now it seems stuck in boot mode, like the first red light on the motherboard, and nothing seems to fix it. Any tips would be really appreciated!
For reference, my setup includes:
- Ryzen 5800x CPU
- ASUS TUF RTX 3070 GPU
- 2x 16GB RAM (G.Skill)
- MSI B550 Gaming Plus motherboard
- 850W dark power PSU
- Samsung 1TB SSD (970 EVO)
The sudden appearance of a CPU LED is likely caused by an internal problem within the PC. Trying a CMOS reset might help restore the motherboard properly. Check if the crash was a simple shutdown or if an error code appeared. A power supply issue could be involved, but without more details it's hard to pinpoint the exact cause.
No errors were detected, only a black screen appeared. The PC remained powered on briefly afterward (probably because I overlooked that). The sound also ceased functioning at the same time. I’ll attempt the CMOS setting next, thank you for your response.
They found the issue was with the CPU indicator light on the motherboard. I still can’t figure out what to do next.
