Windows 11
CPU: i7-9700
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 1x 1TB SSD M.2, 2x 2TB HHD SATA, 1x 500GB SSD SATA
PSU: Asus Prime 750B-Black 750W 80+ Bronze
Motherboard: Asus
Outputs: 2 x USB 3.0, 3X USB 2.0
When I attempt to link either a HDD or an SSD, the drive indicator lights up briefly before turning off and then emitting a connection/disconnection sound repeatedly. It feels like the drives are constantly being connected and disconnected. This problem only began recently, whereas previously it didn’t occur with the same drives.
It doesn’t happen when using USB keys, and all drives function properly on other PCs.
I suspect a power supply issue at the USB ports might be the cause, especially after upgrading from 450W to a 750W PSU, but the problem remains unresolved.

I suspect a power delivery concern, especially after the recent upgrade.
What was the model, make, and age of your previous 450W unit?
Which external storage devices are you attempting to connect? Some require an additional USB port for sufficient power. Have you tested other cables? Did you use USB 3 or USB 2? Were the back or front panel USB ports checked?

The drives are standard external units connected via USB ports on the case.
Unknown Chinese brand, no labels, about five years old.

Device mgr/usb controllers.
Check the properties of each entry for a power choice.
Turn off the allow option.
In the power plan, also disable the USB selective suspend feature.
