Today when I powered on my PC, it started with a black screen. The cursor appears only after I move the mouse. I haven’t installed any updates recently, so I’m unsure what’s causing this issue. Pressing the caps lock key makes the screen light up. The cursor occasionally displays the blue loading circle for a few seconds repeatedly, as if loading something. Anyone know how to resolve this?

What's the age of your machine? Have you attempted to clear the CMOS, connected the SATA cable to the operating system drive, or are you letting it boot up naturally?

You're experiencing an issue where the lock screen only appears temporarily after a long wait, but pressing keys causes it to reset repeatedly. It might be worth trying a restart to see if that resolves the problem.

It seems you're concerned about your drive capacity. Could you tell me which HDD or SSD model you're currently using?

It's a 5400 rpm HDD, but I also have a Samsung 970 EVO Plus. If this one fails, I can switch to the SSD. Also, typing my PIN on the black screen worked—probably just a minor glitch. Thanks for your help!

I might think about having a backup, just in case the slow reading indicates a failing drive.
