The overclocked GPU led to the PC shutting down and it won't restart when using it.
Hi everyone, i attempted to overclock my sapphire hd 7870 using the settings from AMD Catalyst Control Center and Graphics OverDrive. The specifications were set as follows: GPU Core at default 1000 mHz up to 1150 mhz, GPU Memory at default 1200mHz to 1400-1450 mhz, and power limit increased by 20%. I tested several games for about 30 to 45 minutes without issues, but the system would abruptly shut down. When I tried to restart, it only powered off briefly after being connected to a 6-pin connector in the far left slot. Switching the card with another old one resolved the problem, suggesting the original card might be faulty. I also reset the CMOS using a jumper, removed the battery for 5 minutes, and uninstalled all overclocking-related drivers and software. No success there either.
The power supply appears to be a Corsair cx600 model, and the motherboard is an ASUS M5A78L-M with USB3 support.
Looking back, overclocking this specific motherboard with this PCIe card seems like a poor decision.
Please help me out.
🙁
Thanks
