I acknowledge I'm new to this. The update process didn't go as expected, and after the upgrade it restarted but crashed. I'm unsure what caused this issue.

The system indicates you should confirm your intent. If unsure, it warns of a serious risk and suggests aborting. It appears some packages were downgraded, causing the system to fail. Consider reinstalling and using 'sudo apt upgrade' instead of 'dist-upgrade'. Avoid PopOS; switch to standard Ubuntu. This situation seems linked to a broader issue with PopOS, which hasn't affected me before.

Develop software for their laptops, craft keyboards, oversee PopOS, handle their DE business, and manage the sales process. Packaging, assembling computers, and focusing on speed seem to be the priority.

They're a tight group, which explains the situation. Yet it seems inefficient to build a distro that performs worse than its foundation if they could focus on ensuring the standard Ubuntu (or any other widely used distro) runs smoothly right away.

It’s a good idea to review the command manual before executing any commands. > The apt utility provides extensive details about apt and its capabilities, along with related commands like apt-cache. I think apt-get is an older option; apt should suffice. It also clarifies flags such as "-y", which isn’t recommended for beginners. For Debian-based systems (e.g., PopOS, Ubuntu), you can refresh using the included graphical interface—PopStore is likely their name. Otherwise, > running sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade are reliable ways to refresh and upgrade packages. (You can combine commands with &&, for example: > sudo apt update && apt upgrade) Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions.

I appreciate the adjustments they implement. Pop Shell and its auto-tiling feature are now standard on all my gnome desktops.
