I saved Crysis on Steam the original 2007 release to test it on my current gaming setup, but it keeps crashing to desktop. No matter what I try, it doesn’t run smoothly. I’ve already checked most settings. My system specs are: A320 Gaming Pro Ryzen 7 1700 DDR4 2800mhz (2400OC) GTX 980Ti running Windows 10.

The game was designed for Windows Vista (released in 2009) and DirectX9c. It could seem unusual, but updating to the newest DirectX9c release might resolve the issue. Some users suggest using compatibility mode or running the application as an administrator.

I attempted that, but it failed completely—there’s no sign the game’s .exe is running. I only noticed it began when my Steam status turned green during the game.
